‘15YearsOfAitorThroupStudio’: Aitor Throup’s First Retrospective in Hong Kong

Aitor Throup is an Argentinian designer based in the United Kingdom, recognised for breaking the boundaries of how we see and think about clothing by introducing a revolutionary architectural approach — building outfits where garments become second skin and the human body is the canvas.

The designer is known for his menswear label, New Object Research, which debuted at London Fashion Week Men’s in 2013, and his creations informed by anatomy and movement. Notable collaborations include with brands such as G STAR RAW, Umbro, and C.P. Company, and musicians Damon Albarn, Flying Lotus and Kasabian.

15YearsOfAitorThroupStudio is Throup’s first full-range retrospective pop-up and the first physical appearance of his work in Hong Kong. The pop-up captures the essence from Aitor Throup’s idea archives. More than 100 of the artist’s signature works across different media since 2006 were selected, showcasing key milestones and design highlights throughout his career.

Highlights include:

• Four fully dressed 1:1 body-moulded sculptures from his ‘NOR13’ (New Object Research) collection, multiple object research samplings and sketch works.

• The first time showcase of the full development process of the iconic ‘Shiva Skull Bag’, examining how panels have been constructed onto the surface of a skull and where patterns can be modified in perfect form.

• A life-size articulated ‘NOR16’ Puppet from his 2016 show in Dover Street Market, together with a full collection of unreleased ‘NOR16’ masks displayed along with a unique lighting system to demonstrate the idea of transition from the corporeal to the ethereal.

• A selection from TheDailySketchbookArchives, a continuing project from the last ten years, with drawings capturing the artist’s inspiration from his daily life and his “self-therapy” response to overwhelming pressures of work.

Rediscover a Luminous Star in the World of Parisian High Jewellery

Revered from La Belle Époque (The Beautiful Age) till the 1960s, Maison Lacloche represents the summit of French high jewellery and the pioneer of the Art Deco movement. The maison’s stunning jewellery creations dazzled many in the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris, and were highly celebrated among European royals and Hollywood stars. The house eventually closed its doors in the 1950s.

To retrace the forgotten craftsmanship and fascinating history of this legendary Parisian jewellery house, L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, brings together 40 extremely precious Lacloche works including jewellery, cases, compacts and precious clocks. This retrospective exhibition reveals the dedicated research behind the savoir-faire, detailed in a book written by the curator Laurence Mouillefarine.

Premiered in Paris and now arriving in Hong Kong for the first time with newly selected creations, this exhibition illustrates the Maison’s technical prowess and impeccable taste, whose lustre shines as bright today as it did in the past.

Balenciaga Year of the Tiger Series Roars to Life in Limited Time Pop-up!

The Lunar New Year is starting off with a roar as Balenciaga brings its Year of the Tiger series to K11 MUSEA in a limited time pop-up!

Taking some of the fashion maison’s signature elements inspired by industrial architecture — raw concrete, fluorescent lighting, reflective aluminium — the standalone pop-up accents this with bright pops of tiger-orange coloured signage, paying respect to the zodiac year of 2022.

Drawing on the tiger’s powerful, signature stripes and its eye-catching orange hue, the Year of the Tiger capsule includes reimagined ready-to-wear classics like the Molleton hoodie in orange, Le Cagole bag in stunning tiger stripes, beanies and scarves and more with patterns that range from all over Balenciaga logo in black and orange, to full blown striped tiger print—all exclusive to K11 MUSEA.

Balenciaga’s signature Hourglass and Gossip handbags will also appear in orange, tiger-stripe, or both, and sneakerheads can find the Runner sneakers and Master boots as well in the new stunning tiger orange detail. A selection of Happy Tiger Charms will also bring the baby zodiac animal on multiple accessory and jewellery pieces to round off the series.

Carry the fierce spirit of the tiger with you this Lunar New Year and shop the Year of the Tiger series at the Balenciaga pop-up today!
