Touching on society’s obsession with youth and beauty, Jesper Just’s film Servitudes explores the tension between femininity and autonomy amidst larger capitalistic and commodifying structures.
A young woman, played by Dree Hemingway, sits alone in an office eating a raw ear of corn. Her hands are secured by Continuous Passive Motion (CPM) devices, which both aid and hinder her ability to eat. A symbolic nod to the disparity between one's identity and one’s socially constructed image, the woman’s interactions with the audience waver between flirtation and apathy, exposing the compromising representations by which the female gender is portrayed.
As Just explains, “Servitudes is not an individual but a construct, the embodiment of a social mechanism. She cannot criticise a system whose existence inherently begets her existence. This tension is expressed in her actions—as she eats the corn, her hands are restrained. Even the corn itself relates back to the social system—a world of GMOs and capital gain. She too is modified, manipulated, a pawn in a power play that is both hidden and transparent.”
Servitudes premiered at Palais de Tokyo in Paris in 2015. It was also shown on the screens of Times Square in New York, and is now in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Donut Golf Club is the only science-themed indoor golf playground in Hong Kong. The playground consists of four areas, ‘Game Zone’, ‘Practice Zone’, ‘The Lawn’ and ‘The Leaderboard’.
In the ‘Game Zone’ are four differently designed tracks. Not only do these tracks test your kids’ skills, vision, coordination and accuracy in golf, but also learn the science theories of golf through observations. The ‘Practice Zone’ offers relatively simple tracks for your kids to practice and master their golf skills. ‘The Lawn’ allows you to take a break and capture the best moment of your children playing golf. If the children perform well, they can also challenge the champion throne and leave a record on the ‘The Leaderboard’. Come challenge yourself with Donut and Ah Meow!
